Having a baby is not only a truly magical time for everyone involved, from buying ‘the big book of baby names’ and nursery making, to the clothes and toys you will get ready all before the arrival of your little bundle of joy. But we at Rob Mank Photography also know it is very hectic! With routines changing, feeds, sleepless nights and so on. We understand all this so we do our best to make sure that whilst your having a session with us, it will be relaxed, fun and a chance for you to have a good time and enjoy your little one having their first portraits for you have on your wall and share with your loved ones.
I love to photograph newborns, ideally capturing them in the first 14 days whilst they are still small and sleepy enough to position into very cute poses. We also know how much your little ones change in the first year and how amazing it is to have timeless pieces of them growing up and changing so quickly right there on your wall to always remind you of those exciting times! I do however get booked up in advance and I rarely have space free once your baby has arrived. It is best to book in your session after your 12 week scan, we can then guarantee your session and you can forget about it until the baby has arrived knowing you’re already booked in for an amazing newborn portrait session!!
I work from my home studio situated in Yorkshire, just a short distance from Sheffield, near by to Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster. Its a warm, cosy and comfortable environment so you can just sit back and relax and enjoy your session.
Of course everyone is different and if quirky shots aren’t your thing, then we can also produce timeless, serene and eternal photographs to hang on your wall using the colours and materials you prefer the most.
Our experience in Weddings, maternity, newborn, older babies, family and commercial shoots make us very versatile and adaptable. Always ensuring that you receive the best experience in a relaxed environment by well trained professionals that put your needs first.

When is the best time to book my newborn session?
Many expectant parents book their newborn session soon after their 20 week scan. This often means my diary is booked up in advance. When you book your session, I pencil your due date in my diary and leave enough space free a few weeks either side of your due date to ensure we can book you in once your new baby safely arrives.
At what age is best for a newborn session?
Your new baby will be very sleepy between feeds and to allow them to be handled safely, they have lots of soft cartilage between their bones. This means your newborn will easily fall into those beautiful curled up poses you see in my portfolio. Often, when carefully placed in my wraps and props, your baby will relax into the position they took up inside you. How amazing is it to be able to capture that!
As your baby grows and develops they will spend less time asleep between feeds, and they will be gradually ‘uncurling’. Usually by the time they are 3 or 4 weeks old, the newborn phase has passed. For this reason I suggest our portrait session takes place when your baby is between 4 and 14 days old.
How long will be my newborn session take?
New babies are all different, we work to your babies pace. We want your little precious bundle of joy to be relaxed, snuggly and asleep so we can work our magic. Its a relaxing time for you all, so please sit back and enjoy your session. On average sessions can take between 2 to 4 hours.
What do I need to bring?
There is so much to remember when a new baby arrives in your life, so that bag you’ve had packed when you go visit your friends and family to show off your new pride and joy, just throw that same bag in the car with you! You wont need anything special for your session. Extra feeds are advised if you are bottle feeding as your baby will feed more than usual. If you are nursing please ensure you are well snacked up yourself to keep up your energy!
Can I bring my other children along to my newborn session for family photos?
Of course, family images are so important. Your little family should all be apart of your session and have those memories of you all together! Please advise me if you are wanting to bring other children to the session as we structure it a little differently so we start with your family images. Younger kids especially can get a little bored watching their new little brother or sister sleep, so it can be good to bring along a parent to watch the kids or take them out the park while we can spend some time with your new baby.
Where will my session take place?
Your new baby photo session will take place in my lovely home studio located in the heart of South Yorkshire, just a short distance from Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Only 5 minutes from the A1.
My baby is now too old for a newborn session, what do you suggest?
Babies grow and change so quickly, don’t worry if your baby is now past the newborn stage, we can capture their cute little smiles, chubby little chops and really start to see their character develop. Around 4 months is a great age for the next stage in your babies portraits. Or you can wait until around 8 months when your baby will just about be at the sitting stage for super cute images!
